Westbound I-90 closed near Livingston after crash

By The Associated Press

LIVINGSTON - The Montana Highway Patrol has closed both westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near Livingston after slushy roads caused a semi tractor-trailer to crash.

Trooper Shawn Fowler says about four miles of the highway are closed near the Yellowstone River bridge and westbound traffic is being rerouted through Livingston.

Fowler says the crash happened during a snowstorm at about 3:30 a.m. Friday when a semi hit a slushy section of the highway. The semi started to fishtail and then jackknifed. The cab hit the guardrail and broke several posts. The trailer broke off the back of the semi and came to rest on the bridge, blocking both lanes.

Heavy wreckers were called to the scene from Billings and the westbound lanes are expected to be closed at least through midmorning.
