Tornado touches down in NE corner of Mont, kills 2HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A rare tornado tore through a northeastern Montana farmhouse and killed two people inside, leaving nothing but the house's foundation and a few twisted vehicles. Sheridan County Sheriff Patrick Ulrickson says a teenage boy and a man in his 40s were killed on the farm when the tornado touched down Monday evening, about 13 miles west of Reserve. A 71-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Plentywood and was to be transported to Billings. Authorities declined to name the victims, saying they were still notifying family members. The tornado destroyed the house, barn, a lean-to and various buildings. The sheriff says a Quonset hut was crushed like a pop can. Before the tornado touched down, authorities reported heavy hail and rain, along with strong wind pushing through. |
