Two Montana Football Players Arrested

By NewsChannel 5 Sports

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Police in Missoula say officers used stun
guns to subdue two University of Montana football players Sunday
morning after the team returned to Missoula from a Saturday game at
Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Sgt. Collin Rose says quarterback Gerald Kemp and cornerback
Trumaine Johnson scuffled with police officers who were responding
to a noise complaint at about 2:40 a.m.
Rose tells the Missoulian that one of the
players struck an officer in the chest with an open hand and was
arrested. He says the second player was arrested after grabbing an
officer to prevent the arrest of his teammate.
Rose says both players were taken to the Missoula County Jail on
suspicion of obstructing a police officer and disorderly conduct.
Montana defeated Northern Arizona 28-24 Saturday.

UPDATE: Montana Athletic Director Jim O'Day released a statement this evening.

"We are continuing our investigation into the allegations, and will let the judicial system run its course. Any disciplining will be handled internally through our student-athlete code of conduct."

"The matter remains under investigation by the Missoula City Police Department. The University of Montana will have no further comment until after the investigation concludes, and the matter has gone through the court system."
