Griz survive at the 'Hive'

The Griz extended their win streak to 13 straight over Sacramento State with a 17-3 victory.

The game was far from pretty. Montana's first score came on a 3 yard run from Lex Hilliard in the first quarter. Hilliard had only 33 yards and carried the ball just 15 times. As a team Montana ran for only 80 yards total.

The vertical game suffered as well. Cole Bergquist had his worst game of the season. He was 12 of 25 for just 93 yards and an interception. The Montana offense clawed for just 173 total yards on the afternoon.

But what did help the nations top ranked team were turnovers. The Hornets coughed the ball up 6 times, 5 interceptions and a fumble. 2 of the picks were compliments of Tory Thomas. His second and final pick came in the 4th quarter and he took it in for 6 giving Montana a safe 17-3 lead.

With the win, Head coach Bobby Hauck became the programs 3rd winningest coach with a total of 46 victories. The Griz host winless Northern Colorado in Missoula next Saturday.
