State Football playoffs get rollin

The Montana High School state football plays got underway this Saturday.

Many of the area teams were winners and have moved on the the 2nd round of the playoffs.

In Single-A the Fergus Eagles were not so lucky. They fell to Hardin 30 to 14 despite two nice touchdown passes from senior quarterback Dillon Bueller.

In Class-B...

The Fairfield Eagles continued their prowess at home. Their stud running back Ethan man tallied 254 yards and 2 scores as the Eagles beat up the Herders from Big Timber 50-14.

In Choteau the Bulldogs weren't so lucky in their first home playoff game since 1989. On the 2nd play from scrimmage Josh Repko ran in a 44 yard touchdown, but that was the only score of the game for the home team. Late in the 1st quarter Glasgow tied the game at 7 and with 13 seconds left in the 4th quarter took a 13-7 lead and the win.

Malta and Fort Benton were winners as well in Class-B.

In Class-C...

The Centerville Miners continued their perfect season behind a 4 touchdown performance from senior Craig Halko. Freshman Sam Retherford added a 109 yards and a score as the Miners ended Chester-J-I's season 50-22.

In Power, the Sunburst Refiners used 2 second half touchdowns to take down the Titans 30 to 23.

In Absorkee, the Stanford Wolves scored 22 4th quarter points to come back and beat the Huskies 50-38.

And the Winifred Red Raiders won their first ever 8-man playoff game as they shut out Park City 30-0.

In 6-man...

Highwood took out Custer-Melstone handily 57-6.

The Knights from North Star upset the Roberts Rockets on a blocked field goal winning 31-29.

And Augusta and Geraldine were both winners in their firstround match-ups.
