Van Nest named MSU-Northern Starting QB

By Zach Wolken

Jeff Van Nest will be MSU-Northern's starting quarterback when the 2008 season begins.

There was some question as to whether Van Nest would be the man this season, considering he was injured in the 3rd game of the 2007 season against UM-Western. A broken ankle along with some ligament damage limited the now sophomore to a more ginger off season workout program.

Nonetheless, the Lights head coach wants there to be no controversy now or when the team returns to practice in the fall. So Van Nest is the man, of course barring any other set backs.

When Van Nest was injured, Garren Hammons took the reigns playing in 9 games, starting 8 of them. The Lights were 2-0 with Van Nest as a starter, while Hammons was 4-5.
