Bagley signs with Roughriders

By KFBB Sports_Team

Regina (CFL.ca) - Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager/Vice President of Football Operations Eric Tillman announced today they have signed import receivers Ryan Bagley and Weston Dressler to two-year plus an option contracts. Financial details of the signings were not released.

Bagley (6’4 – 215 lbs) spent four seasons at the University of Montana. He had 46 catches for 692 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season and had a career high 55 catches for 725 yards and four touchdowns in 2006. Bagley finished his college career with 153 receptions for 1,940 yards and 12 touchdowns in 37 games.

Dressler (5’8 – 175 lbs) spent the past four seasons at the University of North Dakota where he set 19 different school records. In his senior season he caught 90 passes for 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns. He finished his collegiate career as UND’s all-time receiving leader with 243 catches for 3,382 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also had 127 punt returns for 1,698 yards and 67 kickoff returns for 1,478 yards. He was the UND’s Athlete of the Year in 2007-08 and earned 2007 All-America honors from five different organizations.

"We expect Ryan and Weston to bring a very high level of competition to an already strong group of receivers," stated Tillman.

"Ryan's senior season was cut short by a broken arm, but his career production in the Grizzlies program was certainly notable. He is a big target, but, unlike a lot of men his size, Ryan gets in and out of his breaks very quickly. He knows how to use his body to create separation from the defensive backs and he has big, soft hands."

"Weston is really fun to watch. He has excellent speed and quickness which allows him to impact the game in two ways: as a receiver and in the return game. The old expression, 'He's a playmaker,' certainly applies to Weston Dressler. And, without a doubt, if he had been blessed with an extra inch or two in height, Weston would have been drafted in the National Football League."
