Both teams struggled a little defensively tonight but we swung the bats pretty well too. After 2 innings we had an 8-0 lead and we never looked back (W 10-3)... there were about 20 major league scouts in attendance. Our starter Nick Hernandez (Tennessee) won his 3rd game of the season but he was hit on the foot by a line drive in the 6th inning and had to be helped off the field... I think he may miss his next start but he should be ok. We turned an amazing 1-4-6-3 double play in the 5th inning where the ball glanced off of Hernandez's glove, Jason Kipnis (Arizona St.) backhanded it at 2nd, and then he flipped the ball across his body to our SS Robbie Shields (Florida Southern), who picked it off a bounce and through a rocket to our 1st baseman Kevin Patterson (Auburn). We had 3 or 4 guys in the line-up get 2 hits including Patterson. Matt Fairel (Florida St.) is tentatively scheduled to pitch tonight against the Falmouth Commodores. Kevin Castner (Pitcher - Cal Poly) is no longer with our club... he has signed a pro contract with the Texas Rangers.
