Injuries to key players have really hampered us for our last 3 games. Robbie Shields (thumb) and Mike Bianucci (knee) are out right now and their replacements haven't done much for us. In fact our back-up SS made 4 errors Monday night and not having both of them in the line-up has really hurt our offense. Shields was in top 3 in the league in avg, home runs, and RBI and Bianucci led the league in home runs, RBI, and runs scored. All together we made 6 errors Monday and yet we still should've won the game. We were down all game until the 8th inning when we scored 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead. That lead didn't last long though because we had some miscues in the bottom of the 8th and let them tie the score. Neither team scored in the 9th so we went to extra innings. We couldn't find a way to score and they got their first 2 runners on. A suicide squeeze ended the game. Somehow after losing 3 straight one-run games we still have a one game lead in our division and still have the best record in the league. We have some help on the way though. Joey Lewis (Georgia) will be here on Sunday after playing in the National Championship Series a few days ago and we also have another infielder from Wofford coming in to help shore up the infield until our injuries heal. Nate Garcia (Santa Clara) is scheduled to pitch tonight at Chatham.
