Tuesday and Wednesday July 1 and 2

Its been a busy couple of days around here and I just wasn't able to get around to this yesterday so I'm combining 2 days into 1. On Tuesday we picked up a big win and a big loss. We won our game vs. Chatham by scoring one run in the 8th, 9th, and 10th innings. If we would've lost it would've been our 4th straight one run loss but instead we scratched and clawed our way to a one run victory. We also suffered a blow to our roster... we found out our shortstop Robbie Shields has a broken bone and torn ligament in his thumb and will probably be sidelined for the next 6 months. We had to move our normal rightfielder, Jason Kipnis, to shortstop. Also, our everyday catcher Robert Stock (USC) injured his finger.

Tonight we played the Bourne Braves and you could definitely tell the injuries have taken a toll on our team. We had about 4 or 5 guys playing positions not playing their primary spots and you could easily tell who they were when you watched the game. Not only does losing Robbie Shields hurt us defensively but he was also our best hitter. We're just not the same team without him. We only lost 5-2 but we were never really in the game. It may take us a few games to get used our new line-up. Hopefully we can stay at the top of the standings while we adjust.
