After a 14-year drought, a Montanan has pitched in the Major Leagues. Belgrade native Kam Mickolio made his Major League debut Wednesday night. The 6'9" right-handed reliever threw one inning of relief in the Baltimore Orioles 11-6 win over Boston. Mickolio allowed one run on three hits, striking out two. He began the season with the Class Double-A Bowie Baysox, but spent the last six weeks with Triple-A Norfolk. He threw 18 innings with the Tides allowing three earned runs and a 1.50 ERA. The Seattle Mariners drafted Mickolio out of Utah Valley State in the 18th round in 2006. He was traded to Baltimore for Erik Bedard in February. The last Montana high school product to pitch in the majors was Jeff Ballard for Pittsburgh in 1994. Catcher Rob Johnson of Butte was a September call-up by the Mariners in 2007.
