PICK FAVORITES IN 2009-2010 PRE-SEASON POLL
WHITEFISH, Mont., Oct. 14, 2009 — In a pre-season poll of Frontier Conference
women’s basketball coaches, conference tournament champion Lewis-Clark State
was picked to win the 2009-2010 league title.
Carroll College was second in the balloting followed by last year’s regular season
champion Westminster College, Montana State-Northern, Rocky Mountain,
Montana Tech, University of Great Falls and Montana Western.
Lewis-Clark received seven first place votes and Carroll College received one.
The league’s men’s coaches picked regular season and conference tournament
champion Westminster College as their preseason pick to win the 2009-10 league
title. Defending national champion Rocky Mountain College was picked second.
The Bears were regular season and conference tournament runner-ups a year
ago.
Montana Western was picked to finish third followed by Lewis-Clark and
Montana State-Northern in a tie for fourth, Carroll College sixth, University of
Great Fall Falls seventh and Montana Tech eighth.
Westminster received five first place votes and Rocky received three first place
votes.
Votes were 7 points for first, 6 points for second, 5 points for third, 4 points for
fourth, 3 points for fifth, 2 points for sixth and one point for seventh.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
In this year’s women’s poll, there was one ballot that gave both Carroll and
Westminster a second place vote and one ballot that gave both University of
Great Falls and Montana Tech a fifth place vote.
In the Carroll/Westminster ballot, the points for second and third were added
together and divided by two with each team given half of the total. The same
formula used for the Tech/UGF fifth/sixth ballot.
