BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State added athleticism on the perimeter and strength inside Thursday as a pair of high school prospects officially joined the Bobcat basketball program, MSU coach Brad Huse announced. Post Blake Brumwell and guard Casey Trujeque from Los Angeles signed National Letters-of-Intent to join the Montana State men’s basketball program.

Brumwell averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds for Big Sandy last season, earning All-State honors in Class C. He scored 23 points a game as a sophomore, grabbing 14 boards a contest that season. He is also a football and track standout, and has helped lead the Pioneers to three straight state tournaments.

“Blake has great size and he will be an effective low post player as he learns to play at this level,” Huse said. “He’s a very good football player and we’re counting on him to bring that toughness to the basketball court. He’s a great student and will be a great representative of Montana State University. It’s great to add another Montana player to our roster.”

Trujeque averaged 12 points and seven assists per game at Price High School in Los Angeles as a junior. He earned Second Team All-CIF Southern Section honors as a junior, and was also named to the All-CIF Academic team.

“Casey is the consummate point guard,” Huse said. “He is smart player and a tremendous student, as he had offers to Ivy League schools as well as Montana State. His high school coach, Mike Lynch, does a great job at Price High School, and they’ll be one of the best teams in the state of California this year. Two of Casey’s teammates are going to Pac 10 member California. Casey is a floor leader and complements his ability to pass with a very good shooting touch. We’re excited to add Casey to our program, and we expect that he’ll help us early in his career.”

College basketball’s November Letter-of-Intent period runs through November 14, and Huse indicated the Bobcats expect more signings.
