Voyagers' Walker Heading To Low-A Kannapolis

Keenyn Walker, the 2011 first round pick of the Chicago White Sox will be promoted to the Low-A Kannapolis Intimidators following the Voyagers upcoming road trip to Utah.

Walker received the news from his current manager this afternoon.

"(Ryan) Newman called me in when I got to the field," Walker recalls. "He said I'm going to be moving up to Kannapolis and that I've obviously proved myself here."


Newman believes it's best to push players with Walker's talent level.

"You got to get him to the next level," said Newman. "You have to start his clock towards next year and instructional league. And see what he can do against some better competition."

Walker has appeared in 7 games and holds a .379 batting average.
