White Sox 2nd Round Pick Arrives in Great Falls

It's not every year rookie ball fans are treated to a first or even second round draft pick, but Voyager fans are lucking out in 2011.

Last week, 47th overall pick Keenyn Walker arrived in Great Falls. Wednesday, 2nd round pick Erik Johnson will also put on a Voyager jersey.

Johnson said he knew going he would be going in the top three rounds and that the second was right where he wanted to be. He said, "The White Sox made a fair deal and it was great," adding, "I'm excited to be out here.

When asked how much time he wants to spend at rookie ball before hopefully climbing the minor league ladder, Johnson said, "I just wanted to go out there and I'm sure that's how most guys are," explaining, "everyone wants to pitch in the bigs and it doesn't really matter how you get there, just get there."

Johnson played three years for the California Golden Bears, who are coming off a College World Series appearance.

No date is set for Johnson's first start.
