While we may be experiencing some flurries, Belt School students got to play hookie today, but it wasn't for a snow day. Belt School was forced to shut down due to a water main break.
School officials say a water main pipe broke inside the Belt School basement below the library around 7 AM this morning just as students were getting to school. The old water pipe began leaking a substantial amount of water and luckily the building suffered no real water damage.
"It's going to take quit a while to get patched up, in fact they are working on that right now, so we made a decision to close down the school and we wouldn't have use of any water in the building within that time frame to get it fixed."says Belt School Principal Kyle Paulson. School officials tried their best to work around the water main break, but in the end felt that canceling school for the day was the safest option. Principal Paulson says classes will resume tomorrow for all grades at the Belt School.
