Baker Will Spend At Least 15 Years in Prison

Posted: Updated:

Continuing on news that has broke this afternoon.  Oney Baker of Great Falls has pled guilty to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to sentencing documents, Baker has had a lengthy criminal history with three previous convictions and ten years served behind bars.  It was after the third conviction that it was ordered that Baker "shall not own, possess, or be in control of any firearms or deadly weapons."  He was arrested in July for allegedly robbing Bobo's Casino in town.  Baker allegedly yelled for employees to open the register and give him money before driving off in a green minivan.

Surveillance footage linked Baker to the minivan and it matched the description after tips were reported to authorities.  After U.S. Marshals tried to stop the van a speed and foot chase eventually took place before Baker was apprehended.

Detectives noticed in a bag in Bakers possession several firearms and many rounds of ammunition.

Baker has been sentenced to a mandatory minimum of fifteen years in prison.
