Great Falls Police Department Honor Officers & Citizens at Annual Award Ceremony

Posted: Updated:

About 180 people crowded the Great Falls Police Department to say thanks to our officers for just doing what they do to keep our city streets safe, as well as to remember fallen officers.  Nearly 20 awards are being handed out to show appreciation while we still can.  Lt.. Jack Allen says, "we are remembering those officers who have died in the line of duty over all these years and then as part of that we want to recognize officers that are with us and doing great things all year long".

There are various levels of awards including Commendation, Distinguished Service, to the highest award of Valor.  A new award being given this year is the Chief's Commendation which goes to an officer of another agency that has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

It's not all about law enforcement today, certain citizens are also being recognized for their instrumental role in assisting the police department in some way.
