Benefis opened a new wing of their Hospice Center this week and the funding didn't come from the usual source. After originally opening the center with an anonymous donation, the expansion was funded by over 1000 donations from the public. The public raised over $2.1 million for the project, which covered the $1.5 million construction as well as half a million dollars to fund operating costs.
The new wings feature eight new rooms, a new staircase, a new elevator as well as a variety of other amenities. A few years ago, Benefis realized the facility was at full capacity and these new additions were critical for helping our community.
A celebration ceremony featured Benefis staff thanking the community for their generosity as well as family members of patients speaking of the benefits of hospice care. The celebration concluded with a tour of the new facilities.
