Almost two calendar years after his arrest and possible life sentence for allegedly shaking his girlfriend's seventeen month old child and causing injuries that the child eventually lost her life over has changed his plea to guilty.
Charles Cadwell Jr. of Great Falls is now pleading guilty to causing fatal injuries to a seventeen month old child. This coming less two weeks before he was supposed to go to trial. Court documents stating that Cadwell has entered a guilty plea for a deliberate homicide charge. According to the agreement the court will ask that Cadwell be sentenced to eighty years in prison but will not seek a parole restriction.
Cadwell in July of 2011 shook seventeen month old Keira Hulbert causing injuries that the toddler eventually could not recover from. He told the judge that Hulbert had been crying and that he went into her bedroom to pick her up saying she kind of threw a fit and shook her out of frustration. He says he tripped and fell but the prosecution said that the evidence just didn't match.
