FBI Investigating Augare Traffic Stop

Posted: Updated:

After being pulled over for alleged drunk driving and driving away from the scene after telling a Glacier County Deputy he had no jurisdiction on the Blackfeet Reservation, the FBI is now reportedly getting involved in the situation at hand.

The FBI is now looking to investigate the traffic stop of State Senator and Blackfeet Tribal Councilman Shannon Augare after reportedly fleeing the scene of a traffic stop after being suspected of drunken driving.

The application for a search warrant was filed earlier this week and the FBI are investigating possible charges of obstructing a peace officer, driving under the influence, and reckless driving against Augare.

Augare was pulled over on the reservation on May 26th.

FBI Special Agent Jason Grende in an affidavit states Augare had been drinking at a Cut Bank bar with his family before leaving.  That affidavit also states that Augare did allegedly tell the Deputy that he had no jurisdiction and drove off after a Glacier County Deputy tried to grab his keys.
