Monica Lindeen Approves Sale

One day after Montana Attorney General Tim Fox's approval, as expected State Auditor Monica Lindeen approves the buying of Blue Cross Blue Shield Montana by a Chicago based insurance provider.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Montana is the largest private health insurer in the Treasure State with close to 250,000 customers.  Health care service corporation offered forty million dollars for the Montana health provider.

Lindeen's approval requires the company to keep 450 jobs in Montana and then to later add one-hundred more.  She said the company's expect to make the acquisition quickly noting necessities due to the changing insurance marketplace.  She also said that "we worked hard to make sure Montanans weren't left out of this deal."

Attorney General Fox gave his approval yesterday to the financial terms of the deal saying that the proceeds of the transaction need to be paid to a new foundation that benefits the interest of the public.
