Montana State Capitol Evacuated Yesterday

Posted: Updated:
It was 12:15 PM yesterday when the governors mail handler opened a package and noticed it was abnormal and reported it to the Helena Police Department.
The unknown substance was declared hazardous material and forced the evacuation of the second floor and the quarantine of the mail handler. Just a few hours later the entire State Capitol Building was forced to evacuate

Later in the afternoon more government agencies were on scene to investigate the unknown material and the building was shut down the remainder of the day. At the time of the report and evacuation Governor Bullock was not in the building and no injuries were reported.

Everything is back to normal at the capitol building and very quite on this fourth of July holiday.
