Body Found in Missouri River

Posted: Updated:

Hours ago a person's body was found floating in the Missouri River near the 9th Street Bridge by  a couple of kayakers.

The kayakers were rowing east bound on the river when they came across what they thought was a rock.  After coming closer to it, the two realized that what was floating was a dead man's body.  The River Rescue Unit from Great Falls Fire and Rescue were able to bring the body to shore after confirming immediately that it was a body.  Authorities on the scene say the body appeared to have been in the river for some time ranging anywhere from two to seven days.

Ashley White was one of the kayakers that came across the man's body.  She expressed shock saying "I saw it just floating right there.  I thought it was a rock, but then I noticed that it was body."

A cause of death has not been determined and the body has been taken for an autopsy.  The person's identity has not been revealed at this time.

This is the third body found in the Missouri River this week.

Authorities say that the investigation is ongoing and will take it's next step after a cause of death has been determined.
