Little's Lanes Preparing for Grand Re-Opening in August

Posted: Updated:

Mel Willey is the owner of Little's Lanes in Great Falls.  He recalls, "in September the main water line for the fire system burst about 8 feet under ground and flooded the entire building".  Four to six inches of water covered the floor.  At that time, staff believed rehab would only be a matter of weeks.  However, it's been 10 months and rehab only began two weeks ago.  Willey says, "ever since this happened we've had everything lined up, it was just a matter of settling with the insurance to get started".

Lost income insurance is all Willey's had to keep afloat on.  He says, "it's been a devastating year. We've lost a lot of employees and an entire year of business".

Now construction is finally underway.  The team is hard at work 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Willey says, "the lanes and scoring system had to be replace.  The pin setters had to be rebuilt".

Perhaps the silver lining is Little's Lanes will be coming back better than ever.  Willey says the technology upgrades alone are impressive.

Rehab should be finished in the next few weeks, in time for a possible grand re-opening in mid August.  It's an over a half million dollar project so far.  Once the installation of the new lanes is complete, it's a matter of finishing touches like replacing the carpet and just making sure everything is in working order.

For Willey, the reopening couldn't come a moment too soon.  He says, "it's a big relief, like getting your life back".

Some loyal Little's Lane's employees will be returning to work once the bowling alley is up and running, yet, they are still in need of a few more helping hands.  If you're interested, head to Little's Lanes to apply.
