A group of our law enforcement officers were honored today for their heroism. This courageous group of men dodged exploding bombs to ensure public safety. The officers involved in the chase and apprehension of Laurence Alan Stewart were given the medal of valor at a ceremony today.
Stewart led police on a high speed chase in which he tossed pipe bombs at officers during the drive. Today's ceremony allowed state officials and the community to thank the brave group of men. All of the men receiving awards were from a variety of local law enforcement agencies.
Officials praised their inter-departmental team work in apprehending the subject despite the dangers involved. The situation in question occurred in November of last year and Stewart was recently sentenced to life in prison.
