Golf Marathon Friday Benefiting Great Falls Rescue Mission

Posted: Updated:

The Golf Marathon is the Great Falls Rescue Mission's largest fundraiser of the summer.  The event is Friday at Hickory Swing Golf Course in Great Falls.  Registration is bright and early at 6:30a.m.  Golf kicks off at 7a.m. and lasts all afternoon until about 4:30p.m.  Most of these golfers are testing their limits, hitting up to 120 holes!

It's all for a good cause.  Golfers receive pledges for their efforts.  The money raised keeps the Rescue Mission's doors open and funds are tight this time of year since most donations come in around the Christmas holiday.

Development Director of the Great Falls Rescue Mission, Jim McCormick, says, "in the summer time there is just as much worry about their health concerns. I mean you can get hypothermia in the winter and you can get heat exhaustion in the summer time if you're not properly hydrated".  The Rescue Mission serves all of north central Montana, covering 17 counties.  Last year they served nearly 90,000 meals and 40,000 people called the Rescue Mission home for some length of time last year, which is why fundraisers like the golf marathon are more important than ever to keep these services going.
