A Safer Downtown Helena

Posted: Updated:

Downtown Helena has had some recent abnormal and destructive behavior to a variety of stores in the area. The police department and city are taking some new strides to keep the downtown areas as safe as possible.

Multiple businesses in the downtown area have encountered vandalization to and littering around many of their shops. The most notable being the closing of Riley's Irish Pub in June due to burglary and a fire.

After multiple incidents he Helena Police Department has now taken this issue into their own hands and has improved the police activity and patrol in the downtown areas. Not only is the police department working by themselves they are joining forces with the public to keep the area safe as clean as possible by creating a volunteer program.

After these programs were initiated the police department has had a great response from the community and local business owners. They hope to keep these programs going through the rest of the summer. If you were interested in keeping downtown Helena as safe as possible you can also call the Helena police department and join their volunteer program at 447-8479
