Lindeen Announces She Will Not Run

Posted: Updated:

While the 2014 Mid-Term Elections are still several months away, many in the Democratic party are still scrambling to see who will fill the seat that six-term Senator Max Baucus is now vacating at this end of his term.  One has now withdrawn her name after consideration.

State Auditor Monica Lindeen has officially said today in a release that she will not run for the seat that current Senator Max Baucus is vacating citing that she does not want to leave Montana and that she will remain in her current position.

Lindeen was considered as a top candidate after former Governor Brian Schweitzer said Saturday that he would not run.  Lindeen has won two state elections in the past with the most recent in November.

Now that Schweitzer and Lindeen have said they will not run other candidates for the Democratic ticket are now current Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau and Lieutenant Governor John Walsh who have either said they are considering or have not ruled out a possible run.

Baucus announced his retirement back in April.
