Each year nearly 300,000 people have a STEMI, which is the most severe heart attack there is out there. Now St. Peters Hospital is receiving an award on their high standard care for heart attack patients.

The American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award was given to St. Peters Hospital for their commitment and success in implementing high standard of care for heart attack patients.This hospitals mission is a part of a system to ensure that STEMI patients are getting the care they need and getting it as soon as possible.

St. Peters was awarded this due to its performance in quick and appropriate treatment of STEMI patients to open the blocked arteries. Before discharged patients start aggressive risk reduction therapies and smoking cessation counseling if needed.

Hospitals must adhere to specific guideline-based measures at a certain level for a designated period of time in order to even be eligible for this American Heart Association Award. St. Peters is always giving their best care, now their level of cardiac treatment is already above national standard and this award shows that incredible achievement.
