Advocates gather to Reduce Gun Violence

Posted: Updated:

The No More Names tour started out with the names of gun violence victims that have occurred since the Newton shooting being read off on the steps of the Capitol. This tour is apart of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns organization, and is traveling to spread the word of gun violence and what could be done to reduce it.

Local families of victims, State Representative Amanda Curtis, and former law officials joined at the Montana State Capitol building to support comprehensive and enforceable background checks for gun buyers. In order to bring these highly wanted background checks these advocates are urging Senator Max Baucus to reconsider his position on this life-saving measure and to take another look at bipartisan background checks legislation.

The No More Names tour heads to Missoula on Thursday with one of the guest speakers being a family member of a victim of the Newtown shooting.
