Posted: Updated:

A woman who was facing charges after the death of her three year old has now taken a new turn. Mary Leider has changed her plea to guilty in the death of her three year old child back in December. She is now convicted of second degree murder.

On December 3rd at approximately 4:00am Big Horn County Sheriff's deputies were called to Highway 313 just south of Hardin. According to court documents Leider said her daughter had been hit by a vehicle and that she had hit her face on the dashboard. After that she claimed she could not recall anything. Later Leider would admit to having thrown the child from the back of a pickup. Documents state Leider opened the passenger door and pushed her out of the truck. After being apprehended by law enforcement it was revealed that Leider had been drinking and posted a B.A.C. of 0.24 and that she said, "I killed my baby."

An autopsy revealed the child died of severe head injuries. Leider sentencing is set for October 22nd. She faces a possible life sentence.
