Tester Cracks Down on Sexual Assaults in the Military

Posted: Updated:

Today Senator Jon Tester announced his support for tough new measures to crack down on military sexual assaults. Tester is backing a bipartisan bill that will hold military commanders more accountable for pursuing sexual assault cases and increase civilian oversight of the process. There were twenty six thousand sexual assaults in the military in 2012.

Tester said this measure is necessary to support survivors and reduce military sexual assault. Tester announced his support next to multiple retired female service officers. Tester and fellow Senator Max Baucus have been trying to find solutions to the issue for several months.
