Recent Storm Damage in Montana

Posted: Updated:

Yesterday hit us with some wild weather. Southwestern Montana was taken over by strong winds and a possible tornado. This caused major damage to the Twin Bridges area as trees were uprooted and the roof was blown off at least one building.

A Madison County sheriff's spokesman says a National Weather Service representative is expected to visit and determine if the tornado did in fact touch down during Thursday's storm.

He also informed us that some falling trees damaged historical buildings. Not to mention the museum and the roof was ripped off a vet clinic that was just outside of town. An airport hanger was also severely damaged, a trailer was crushed, and a grandstand at the Madison County Fairgrounds was flipped over and destroyed.

The National Weather Service reported 90 mph wind speeds in the area and witnesses taking video of the event said that a tornado funnel appeared to be touching the ground.
