On July 30th Ken Blatt St. Marks had appeared to have won the special election and reclaimed his position of the Chippewa Cree Chairman, the results have now been invalidated.
The board attorney citing that some people that voted did not have an official Tribal ID card.
Chippewa Cree voters approved a law that required voters to present a proper id before a vote was to be cast, and this was the first election where the voters were required to have it.
No official number has been revealed on how many did not have the identification when voting, and no date has been set for a new election.
After having been removed in March, St. Marks defeated five others in the election in July.
