Great Falls Housing Authority Celebrates Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

The Great Falls Housing Authority celebrating a historic landmark today.  While the landmark is not official until next month, today was the day that the group put on their 75th Anniversary celebration at their headquarters.

The Great Falls Housing Authority started up in 1938 and ground broke on their first building in 1939.  They started out assisting 156 families in the Great Falls area and all their units filled for the first time in July of 1940.  Photographs and memorabilia from the past seventy five years were available to be seen at the reception.  Executive Director Kevin Hager is proud of the accomplishment and looks forward to what the future brings saying "I'm very excited of how much this place has grown.  We now have seven different sites and serve 1,600 people."

Since year one, the housing authority now has seven different sites for housing.  Five public housing complexes with 490 units and a Section Eight housing program with 200 available units.  They also say they are now able to serve up to 525 families with their expansion over the last seventy-five years.
