One week after Dirk Adams announced that he would run for Senator Max Baucus's Senate seat upon his retirement at the end of this term. A Republican candidate, now announcing he will run, but the seat he will pursue in Congress remains a question.
State Senator Matthew Rosendale from Senate District 19 in Glendive has filed the necessary paperwork and has started raising money for either a House or Senate run.
He has also told the Federal Elections Committee though that he will not specify which seat he will run for. The decision he says will come after current Congressman Steve Daines, who many feel is the frontrunner from the Republican party to run, makes his decision on whether to pursue the open Senate seat or re-election to the House.
Rosendale during the 2013 Legislative Session was noted for opposing many of the large budget and policy initiatives that Governor Steve Bullock pursued to start his term.
Rosendale is the second Republican to officially announce a possible run for Senate.
