Horses In Montana Have Been Diagnosed with West Nile

It has confirmed that there has been at least nine cases of the West Nile Virus in Montana horses over the past week. This has lead to the deaths of five of these animals.

Three of the horses are expected to recover from the illness, while the last is still being treated.

Horse owners are being encouraged to consider a booster vaccine, which could help provide protection in as soon as a week.

West Nile Fever symptoms include loss of appetite, depression, fever, weakness of limbs, twitching, convulsions and the inability to swallow. If you see your animals with any those symptoms please seek vet help immediately.

    Cascade County Sheriff's Office confirms two separate ATV accidents. One is on Highway 89 mile marker 58. Mercy flight responded to the call. They said the victim is a male of unknown age with a head injury and he is conscious. The other is out by Vaughn. The victim is also a male age unknown at this time with bleeding from his head and nose. As we learn more we will update the story.
