Kenneth Cougar Brown of Great Falls is facing one felony assault with a weapon charge and two felony criminal endangerment charges.

According to court documents, police were dispatched to a location on the 500 block of Central Avenue West after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon were reported. The alleged victim, and another witness say Brown allegedly held a gun to the victim's head while she was holding her 17-month-old son behind Brown's residence.

Brown, reportedly, is denying to police that the incident took place. Brown has a criminal history, including a previous assault with a weapon charge.

Brown was released on his own recognizance to his mother.

And Shirlene Blackbird faces a felony assault on a minor charge. According to court documents, Friday, Great Falls police were sent to Blackbird's residence located at Chowen Springs.  Police say the defendant was with her children and reportedly found out that her eight-year-old son was kissing a juvenile girl outside.  Blackbird reportedly hit her son with a closed fist, then allegedly picked up a toy gun and hit him in the abdomen several times, breaking the gun.

Documents state, afterward, she started kicking and stomping him causing the young boy to bleed.  The police affidavit says officers witnessed fresh cuts and bruises on the boy's back.  Officers say Blackbird admitted to kicking, hitting, and striking her son with a toy gun.

Bond has been set at $2,500.
