YWCA Helena receives generous donation from MTS Freight

Posted: Updated:

The Helena YWCA received a very big and generous donation this week, and it is not your typical donation.

"MTS Freight donated a full pig and a full beef to the YWCA." Says Kellie McBride the Executive Director of the YWCA, "So there is sirloin steak, and there is ground beef, and there is bacon, pork roast, and there is any cut you could imagine."

The amount of meat that MTS Freight donated will last the residents at the YWCA Nearly a year, and enables the home to supply good quality meat to the roughly 33 women and their families who live there. So of course it is a very generous donation, but you are probably wondering why meat and where exactly did it come from?

"They purchased them at the Stampede Fair, they are 4-H auction, they purchased them at auction, and sent them to Tizer Meat, had them processed and donated them here."

You would think donating this much food might get tricky or confusing with so many people living in the house, but MTS Freight went one step beyond simply donating.

"They called and asked us how we wanted it packaged, so they had it packaged in small packages so there is a package of two pork chops instead of more."

MTS Freight is making a difference in a different way supporting 4-H, the community, and the women at the YWCA who appreciate this donation greatly.

"Women can use their snap benefits, they can use their own personal money to purchase just the produce, and the rice, and the grains that go with the meal and then YWCA gets to provide the meat thanks to MTS Freight"
