The Texas oil giant is paying for the training as part of its settlement with the state over water pollution violations.

Exxon Mobil agreed to pay $1.6 million in cash and other penalties after the 63-thousand-barrel spill near Laurel fouled dozens of miles of shoreline along the scenic Yellowstone.  The spill training is being conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.

The first session is scheduled for September 23rd in Livingston.  The training will run through October 5th, and also include sessions in Columbus, Billings, Miles City and Glendive.
