City Commission Unanimous on Electricity Next Step

Posted: Updated:

A very important vote taking place just hours ago in the City Commission Chambers.

The latest in the fallout from the SME bankruptcy that took place earlier this year and the city's next step was voted on.

A presentation on energy suggestions for the city was given just before the meeting.  Tonight's vote was to officially authorize the reclassification of funds for electricity in an investment in a joint venture and to recognize the loss of the deposit that came from disbanding with SME and their bankruptcy.  The vote passed unanimously.

Bill Pascoe, a long time energy consultant from the State of Montana, explained and demonstrated the positives on a request for a new energy supplier to the city for both electric and natural gas. The commission will be seeking a 1-5 fix contract.  The total loss from SME in the 2013 fiscal year was $866,567.01.
