My Student in Need Goes Live

Posted: Updated:
Some students in Great Falls are about to get a huge gift from the community. Many people already know about the work of the My Neighbor in Need project that uses the power and resources of the community to help out others. Now the generous forces behind My Neighbor in Need are bringing some good to the schools in Great Falls.

"Well we've heard stories of heroic teachers spending their own money, and now its time for us, the village, to take care of these students in need," said Dave Snuggs, the My Student in Need founder.

The program allows for teachers and school administrators to send out requests to the community about the specific needs of their students, who cant afford some basic school supplies. The school system says getting the community involved through this program will make a huge difference to the students and teachers involved.

"Across the board, our elementary, middle school and high school folks, because of their nature of wanting to give and to take care of kids, have used their own resources for years and years, but as the need increases, we just cant meet all of those needs. This is an opportunity for the community to have the joy of giving to a kid in need, and we are excited about that," said assistant superintendent, Tom Moore.

Snuggs spoke about the reaction he expects from the students and community.

"I think its going to be a reaction of relief. As I like to say to people, this is hope for these students in need to say besides just teachers offering help what about the community."
