Jordan Linn Graham Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

MISSOULA -

A newlywed bride accused of pushing her husband off a cliff pleads not guilty to three charges on Friday in U.S. District Court in Missoula.

On Thursday, a grand jury indicted 22-year-old Jordan Linn Graham with first degree murder, second degree murder, and false statement.

Jordan Graham's arraignment here at U.S. District Court only took about ten minutes, where she pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

Graham's attorneys were unavailable for comment, and it's still unclear what they'll use as a defense.

Jordan Graham appeared calm and collected as she entered the courthouse alone.

She maintained her reserve when Judge Jeremiah Lynch asked her if she understood the charges against her, calmly answering, "yes sir."

Her attorney, Michael Donahoe, then entered the young woman's not guilty pleas.

The indictment shows Graham's first degree murder charge means the alleged incident in Glacier National Park was premeditated.

Graham faces life in prison for the first and second degree murder charges, and up to five years for giving a false statement to park officials.

Documents show that Graham's false statement was that her husband, 25-year-old Cody Johnson, disappeared after his "car buddies from Washington probably came and got him."

Johnson disappeared on July 7, and his body was recovered in Glacier National Park five days later.

On July 16, Graham admitted she'd pushed Johnson off a cliff after arguing.

Later in court proceedings, it was revealed Graham, her mother, and brother did not immediately report finding Johnson's body, and that Graham tried to cover up the crime with fake emails.

Friday's arraignment was Graham's first court appearance since September 13, when a judge determined she could remain in the custody of her parents on house arrest in Kalispell.

Prosecutors said they want Graham to be detained, but that they respect the court's decision for her to remain on house arrest.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for October 15.
