It has been one week since the new Healthcare Marketplace opened up online, and one could say the first week did not go exactly as planned.
"There were approximately seven and a half million users that tried to go on to the health insurance marketplace on the first day, which subsequently caused it to delay and crash." says John Dowan, Director of Strategic Marketing.
Since opening day the web site, healthcare.gov, has been jammed with people trying to purchase their new insurance plan. Blue Cross Blue Shield Montana has been working with customers constantly for the past week.
"Several calls and e-mails about folks who were just not able to get on for whatever reason so this is certainly something that is being fixed."
Well you can't get through on healthcare.gov, but you want to start shopping now, Blue Cross Blue Shield has a place for you to go to start shopping and research.
"So despite the potential for delays you can still initiate the process."
The hold up on the government web site is causing frustration to many and the retail shopping guide on the Blue Cross Blue Shield web site enables customers to study, compare, and initiate the process of purchasing a healthcare plan. Although you do have time to purchase a plan, you may want to kick start your research so you know exactly what you want and need when it comes time to making the purchase.
"You don't want to wait until December 14th to try and study all of the plans, so our recommendations is you get on initiate the process, do your homework, and take your time in finalizing enrollment through the marketplace."
