Undercover game wardens sue Fish, Wildlife, and Parks

Posted: Updated:

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Three game wardens have filed a lawsuit against the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks arguing they should be paid for every hour they work on an undercover case because they have to maintain their undercover identities during the entire assignment.

The lawsuit, filed in District Court in Helena on Friday, argues the men are required to have nearly constant contact with the suspect and may set up hunting camp near the suspect or share a house, lodge or room with a suspect. During this time, they argue, they cannot contact family members for fear of blowing their cover and rarely get a full night of uninterrupted sleep.

The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/1hC4brM ) the wardens claim FWP is retaliating against them by refusing to assign them new undercover work.
