Simms Tigers' Joe O'Brien Named Midseason Coach of the Year

Posted: Updated:

Head Coach Joe O'Brien..."I'm telling you right now that this is the best football team in the state of Montana but you have to believe it... you have to be the guys that believe in each other and yourself...not just 8 man football...the best football team in the state...put that in your brain...rattle that around...because that's our standard...that's who we are."

Blake Arthur..."And after being just 2-7 on the year last season...the Simms Tigers are now 5-1 thus far and in large part due to their first year head coach Joe O'Brien who was just awarded as midseason football coach of the year in the state of Montana."

Eric Dirk..."We're really fortunate to have coach O'Brien...he played in the NFL...he was an all American...he coached at the highest level..he has knowledge that goes forever...he's a master motivator and his passion for the game is un real...so we're fortunate it's a blessing to be here right by his side."

Zeb Bloom..."I like playing for coach because he's into the game as much as we are...he loves the game and brings that passion and it wears off on us."

Coach O'Brien is an awesome coach he motivates really well and gets us fired up before and during games

Blake Arthur..."And as you would expect with Coach O'Brien...he is humbled by the recognition but if you ask him...a lot of the credit goes to his players and his coaches."

Joe O'Brien..."Awards are nice and it makes me feel good of course but there a lot of people involved...coach dirk...my offensive coordinator...I don't know where I'd be without him to be totally honest...the attitude and that stuff I think the kids have bought in to my system but I couldn't have done it without my assistant coaches."

From Simms, Blake Arthur, ABC/FOX Montana Sports.
