A Women Is In Critical Condition After Her Involvement In a Standoff

54 year old Michelle Gentry of Columbia Falls is in critical condition after a Flathead County SWAT Deputy shot her twice yesterday following a standoff.

At 6:30 PM yesterday, Michelle Gentry was shot twice outside her home on Eastland Crossroads. Gunfire came after nearly three hours of negotiations between Gentry and nearly a dozen Flathead County officials. Sheriff Chuck Curry says she unexpectedly left the home with a handgun and walked towards SWAT members, who perceived her as an imminent threat.

Those who know her understand Genrty has struggled with mental anguish before, but the news still comes as a hard blow.

Even Flathead County Sheriff, Chuck Curry, who watched the events unfold, admits he was caught off guard.

Gentry was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where they listed her in critical condition. A single officer fired both rounds and is now on paid administrative leave, as is protocol. Kalispell Police are now investigating the incident and the chain of events that led up to the gunfire.
