Leider Sentenced to Over 20 Years in Prison

Posted: Updated:

Mary Agnes Leider was sentenced to 262 months in prison, which is two months shy of twenty-two years total.

Authorities say Leider was riding in the passenger seat with her daughter, Tenielle Big Day, in her lap, and that vehicle was going at least forty-five miles an hour when Leider opened her door and threw the three year old girl onto US Highway 313 just outside of Hardin for reasons that remain unclear. Big Day, died of massive head injuries due to blunt force trauma.

Leider has also been ordered to pay a little more than $11,000 in restitution.  She is eligible for a sentence reduction for good behavior, but not until she has served at least eighteen and a half years of the sentence.
