Steve Daines visits Homeless Veteran Shelter in Helena

Posted: Updated:

Today in Helena Congressman Steve Daines was able to tour the Willis Cruse Living Facility that provides housing and support for homeless Veterans.

Daines met with Terry Stephens, the VA homeless Veterans coordinator for Montana, to tour the new Willis Cruse facility and meet with Veterans residing in the transitional housing unit. Daines himself was happy to see the Veterans getting on their feet and wants to see more facilities like this one around our state.

Congressman Steve Daines said "Well a part of this too is awareness we found out there are some communities in Montana that do not have this kind of service available in fact my hometown does not have this available, in Bozeman. So we are going to work to try and network some of the leaders here running successful programs with some of the folks for example back in Bozeman to build awareness and maybe get some of these programs started in places where they don't currently exist.

The Willis Cruse Living Facility is a 12 bedroom transitional facility for homeless Veterans. Occupants receive room and board in exchange for community service, in addition to this they also receive access to a variety of rehabilitation help, and as a part of the recovery program Veterans are provided with continuing education programs, employment training services, and applied work experience.
